Education

Studied English literature and mathematics (double major) at Williams College, and graduated with honors. Currently a Master's candidate at the UPenn Graduate School of Education, through a teaching residency at a Massachusetts boarding school.

Experience

Extensive experience with high school students: during the school year I teach English at a competitive private boarding school in Massachusetts, and in my free time and over summers I tutor students in writing and SAT prep. My undergrad double major in English and mathematic helps. Currently a grad student in education, so I'm always trying to get inside the heads of my kids to experience what they're experiencing, their frustrations and excitement, to help them learn in the way that suits their aptitudes and needs. I try to teach them this skill, too--metacognition--"knowing what you know" (and what you don't know) is probably the biggest step toward learning. Would be happy to talk about my philosophy about how kids learn should you want to know more.
