Mandarin Chinese is my native language, and because I grew up in the country I am very familiar with the culture, as well. I very much enjoy helping students understand my language and the people of my country. After earning my bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from Tsinghua University, I came to the U.S. to study at the University of Pennsylvania. I was subsequently awarded a PhD in Molecular and Cell Biology. My tutoring experience also began there as a teaching assistant for several semesters, and I have received high marks from students that I taught, both in the classroom and in individual sessions.I believe there is much more to teaching than simply imparting information. It is important to me to get students involved in their lessons and also to take my key from them as to how best to reach them intellectually. The give-and-take process comes naturally for me, because I am both flexible and patient. Subjects I enjoy helping students with include Mandarin Chinese, Chinese Culture, general mathematics, Biology, Microbiology, and Biochemistry.When I am not working, I spend a lot of time with family and friends. I also enjoy cooking, experimenting with new foods, watching television, and shopping.
