Experience

Math tutoring: I was a math tutor through the JHU Learning Den for three years and through this organization, I have tutored Calculus I, II, and Differential Equations. I have also tutored independently in those subjects. I have been particularly effective tutoring students for the SAT math section, in one case improving a student's score by over 400 points (out of 800). I've taken college-level math courses (Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Abstract Algebra, Analysis, Complex Analysis and Number Theory) Language tutoring: I have taught several French language classes at Princeton University and was even awarded a departmental teaching award for teaching the accelerated beginner French 103 class. Professionally, I have taken a seminar on second language acquisition pedagogy, a year-long interdisciplinary Teaching Seminar, and the Teacher Transcript program. I have also given private lessons in English and tutored Turkish and African refugee students in English and a variety of other topics. I also speak Italian, and would be happy to tutor that as well. Writing Tutoring: As a creative writing major, I have a lot of experience in workshop settings, proofreading, and more. Additionally, this coming year I will be a Graduate Fellow at Princeton University's Writing Center. SAT Scores: Math: 770; Verbal: 690; Writing: 740 AP: European History: 5; Calculus BC: 5; Statistics: 5; Music Theory: 4; Government: 4; Language and Composition: 5; Literature and Composition: 4; Biology: 5.

Hobbies

Music: I played flute in several musical ensembles at Johns Hopkins and took conservatory lessons at Peabody. I'm a huge fan of Broadway musicals as well — I've memorized all the music and lyrics to over 40 different shows! Traveling: I love to travel and have most recently planned trips to Ireland and Amsterdam. In my studies, I have had several wonderful study abroad opportunities as well, including a semester and an academic year in Paris, a summer in Italy (Urbino), and a summer in Berlin. All of these experiences have enriched my love of learning new languages and cultures!
